Curtis Sirkoch is a first-year Chemical Engineering major at Bard College. He first experienced volunteer work performing science experiments with children at middle and elementary school science fairs put on by the Bard Center for Civic Engagement. Curtis hopes to make gravity-resistant egg carriers and elephant snot in order to demonstrate properties physics and chemistry during his stay in India. The picture of Curtis kneeling next to a large pile of styrofoam and broken eggs is the typical result of such experiments. In addition to science, Curtis takes interest in agriculture, cooking, jazz music, and plays the saxophone. Bringing these interests to the children of India is an exciting opportunity to him. Hopefully his dream of leading a Bollywood styled parade with a saxophone in hand and a small army of handmade-percussion-instrument-wielding children following behind him comes true.
